The trickiest part of the recipe is melting the chocolate. Take it from me: slow and steady wins the race. If the pan gets too hot, you will burn the chocolate.

Break the chocolate into pieces and place in a saucepan. Turn the stove burner on low heat and stir consistently as the chocolate melts. Make sure you scrape the sides and the bottom of the pan regularly.

If you want to skip the stovetop all together, you can melt the chocolate in the microwave. Place almond bark chunks in a microwave-safe bowl and microwave for 30-second intervals, stirring between them until they have a smooth, melted texture.

Instead of the traditional chocolate almond bark, you can use 16 oz or 2 cups of white almond bark, milk chocolate chips, dark chocolate chips, or semisweet chocolate chips. Cook the same way, slow and steady, stirring consistently so the chocolate doesn’t burn.

Turn off the heat once the chocolate is completely melted (like in the picture above). Go ahead and add the peanuts to the melted chocolate. Give them a good stir, so they are fully covered in chocolate.

Line your counter with waxed paper. Then, using a soup spoon or a small cookie scoop, scoop up some chocolate-covered peanuts and make a small pile on the wax paper. It’s up to you how big you want your clusters to be.

Continue scooping and creating clusters on the wax paper. Allow the peanut clusters to cool and harden before storing away.

This recipe usually makes 48 peanut clusters, depending on the size you make them.

Allow them to cool to room temperature. The chocolate will harden. Once they have cooled, you can store them in an airtight container or freezer bag in a cool place until you are ready to serve them. This is a perfect, delicious treat for someone with a sweet tooth. Take it with you as a hostess gift. They are the easiest treat to make for last-minute gifts anyone would love. I like putting them in a zippered bag, tying them up with a pretty ribbon, and then cutting off the zippered part.

The crunchy peanuts and the decadent chocolate are going to be a Christmas staple going forward at your house. Enjoy these homemade chocolate peanut clusters. It’s a great recipe to invite your kids into the kitchen and help you make!
