It doesn’t get much better than fried foods! ESPECIALLY when those fried foods are SWEET! Copy cat recipes of the popular Fair foods – fried Oreosandfried Twinkies, etc… you have GOT to try making these delicious treats for yourself! Easy AND impressive and OH SO delicious.
I love love LOVE fair foods and of course I’ve tried fried Oreos and Twinkies before, I enjoyed them and they were super fun to make at home, but I have to say the COOKIE DOUGH blew me out of the water, like seriously if you only make one make that one….
word of warning, I tried to also fry regular sized peanut butter cups and cadbury eggs. they were so heavy they sank, the batter fell off and trying to get them out was almost impossible so the chocolate melted and burned on the heating elements… It was a smelly mess. I think if you are going to try anything chocolate covered (like the mini snickers) it needs to be UBER mini and small so it floats. I’m willing to try the peanut butter cups again, but the mini ones, not the small, but the MINI…
SO the cookie dough, you can go two ways, store bought or homemade. I tried both and at the end of the day all that matters is that it’s a thick recipe, and that it’s one you love. Experiment. Tried a few different ones and see what you think! I went with classic chocolate chip over my oatmeal chocolate chip, since the fried batter is heavy enough I didn’t want to go double heavy with so much grain… but it’s totally up to you.

You can dip so many different sweets and candy into this batter and fry it for a delicious treat, a favorite food of fairs, and now you can make it in your home with this video.

Ingredients
- Oreos, Twinkies, Cookie dough and or mini candy bars
- 1 C all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 Tbsp granulated sugar
- 3/4 C whole milk
- 1 egg beaten
- 2 Tbsp melted butter
US Customary - Metric
Instructions
Freeze the candy or treats for at least 2 hours, I prefer overnight
Heat the oil to 375 F
whisk all the other ingredients until smooth.
bring out the frozen treats a few at a time.
stick toothpicks into the ones you can
Drench in the batter and shake off slightly
Fry for 1 - 1 1/2 mins each side
Top with a sprinkling of powered sugar and serve warm!

Verdict? AMAZING! like seriously. The Cookie was my FAV but the gooey caramel snickers was sweet with a nice crunch, the Twinkie filling was gooey and warm and of course you can’t go wrong with the classic Oreo!

These look amazing! I don’t have a deep fryer but I was planning to use a regular old stainless steel pot, which kind of oil is best to use? Thanks!

whatever oil you have around that can handle the high heat – so I avoid olive oil and use canola

Can I use self rising instead of all purpose?

the recipe doesn’t call for any rising agents – otherwise you could leave out the rising agent and use the self rising flour instead – but in this case if you used it it would def change the outcome.

Thank you so much!!! I have been scouring the internet searching for a fried Oreo recipe that did not include “pancake mix.” These are great! We love fried Oreos and cookie dough is next on our list. We’ve tried Snickers and twix (twix won that) and twinkees, of course. We’ve done fried butter, which was just eh. We also want to try marshmallows and give them a quick shake in sugar and cinnamon when they first come out. We have a problem. 😀
